West Ham United are reportedly keen on doing some serious summer shopping at Liverpool this summer.
Earlier this month, it was already revealed by Hammers insider ExWHUEmployee (who is very reliable for West Ham news) that the London side have been monitoring Tyler Morton closely.
After limited opportunities under Arne Slot, the 22-year-old has emerged as a prime candidate for sale.
Morton made just five senior appearances for Liverpool – three in the EFL Cup and one each in the FA Cup and Champions League – before a shoulder injury in December required surgery and curtailed his season.
Graham Potter and Head of Recruitment Kyle Macaulay have prioritized recruiting younger talent over concerns of the average age of the Hammers squad.
Morton’s profile fits perfectly with the club’s vision.
A permanent move would allow the midfielder to kick-start his senior career and offer West Ham a low-risk, high-upside addition.
But it seems he is not the only target for Potter’s side.
According to the print edition of La Gazzetta Dello Sport (via the West Ham Zone), West Ham are among five Premier League clubs showing interest in Harvey Elliott as well.
The list of suitors also features Brighton and Newcastle United.
Brighton is currently considered the frontrunners to secure the England Under-21 star?
Their pursuit has intensified as the club prepares for the possible departure of Matt O’Riley.
Elliott scored in every round of the recent U21 European Championships as England lifted the trophy.
He was named also named Player of the Tournament in a development that no doubt boosts his market value.
Liverpool have set an asking price of £40 million if the deal includes a buy-back clause, rising to £50 million for a straight sale.
West Ham could see Elliott as a potential long-term replacement for Mohammed Kudus (whose future remains uncertain amid Tottenham interest) and as creative cover for Lucas Paquetá, who faces a possible FA ban.
