West Ham have submitted an improved second bid for Botafogo goalkeeper John Victor of £10million, sources have told Football Insider.
The Premier League club had an £8m offer for the 29-year-old rejected last week.
Now, West Ham have returned with a higher bid and sources say they are “confident” a full agreement can now be reached.
Victor is keen to join a Premier League club and has also attracted interest from Aston Villa, Burnley and Wolves.
West Ham have been left short in the goalkeeping department, following the decision not to renew long-term shot stopper Lukasz Fabianski’s contract earlier this summer.
To make matters worse, current number one Alphonse Areola left Hammers fans furious after making two big mistakes in the side’s pre-season friendly against Manchester United.

Graham Potter is clearly desperate to add a keeper who can challenge Areola, and Victor could be the man to come in and replace him.
The Brazilian impressed during the recent Club World Cup, and could even be in line for a national team call-up when Carlo Ancelotti’s squad next meets in September.

Meanwhile, West Ham are leading Celtic in the race to sign former Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill on a free transfer this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Potter’s side are confident of landing the midfielder and believe their financial muscle and ability to offer higher wages puts them in pole position.
However, Football Insider revealed on 2 August that Celtic want to sign Brownhill and hope Champions League football can give them the edge over their rivals.
Alongside both West Ham and Celtic, a number of European and MLS sides are believed to be keeping a close eye on his situation with a move in mind.
