West Ham supporters voiced their frustration with Mads Hermansen after his disastrous showing against Chelsea, with some even calling for a former goalkeeper to be brought back.
West Ham have endured a nightmare start to the Premier League season, losing both of their opening fixtures and conceding eight goals in the process.
Against Chelsea on 22 August, things looked promising early on when Lucas Paqueta fired in a stunning long-range strike to give the Hammers the lead.
But the optimism didn’t last long as the Blues ran riot at the London Stadium, as Chelsea cruised to a 5-1 win over West Ham.
Hermansen, only joined West Ham earlier this summer in a deal worth around £18million, was singled out by supporters for his part in the defeat.
The Danish goalkeeper arrived to replace long-serving Lukasz Fabianski, with concerns also lingering over Alphonse Areola’s consistency.
Yet after just two games in claret and blue, fans have already turned against the new signing, with questions mounting over whether the club made the right decision to bring him in.
Hermansen’s start to life in East London has been far from ideal, with the Danish goalkeeper conceding more goals (eight) than saves made (four) across his first two appearances.
Chelsea’s fourth goal summed up his evening.
A corner was swung in and, although Hermansen initially claimed the ball, he spilled it straight into the path of Moises Caicedo, who gratefully slotted home.

The 25-year-old was officially credited with an error leading to a goal and looked shaky throughout, never instilling confidence between the posts.
It follows Hermansen receiving criticism on debut against Sunderland, where some supporters already questioned whether he was the right signing in a 3-0 loss.
His latest performance has only intensified the scrutiny.

Football Insider reported earlier this summer that Leicester City were willing to cash in on Hermansen following relegation, and West Ham moved quickly to secure him.
For many fans, however, doubts are already creeping in over whether the club made the right call.
Concerns over Alphonse Areola’s form were what prompted the move in the first place, yet Hermansen’s shaky start has left supporters unconvinced.
Some have even called for a shock return of Fabianski, who left West Ham at the end of last season when his contract expired.
One frustrated fan said: “I’d phone Fabianski and beg him to come back at this point” while another added: “We released Fabianski who is comfortably better than these two keepers.”
