Current unrest at West Ham United will hit manager Graham Potter when fans boycott a key Premier League fixture.

Potter is under pressure at West Ham, but relieved some of the mounting criticism on him with a stunning 3-0 victory at Nottingham Forest.

Jarrod Bowen clashed with a fan against Wolves, with supporters already letting their feelings known towards the players.

Supporters will now go a step further after issuing a letter of no confidence in the club hierarchy, with growing calls for David Sullivan and Karren Brady to quit.

Amid the West Ham fans’ desire to see Sullivan and Brady quit, Hammers supporters are planning to boycott the club’s Premier League fixture against Brentford, as per The Telegraph [ 3 September].

The match at the London Stadium is scheduled to be televised on Sky Sports on Monday October 20th, against a Brentford side also at the wrong end of the Premier League table.

West Ham fans will also protest before another London derby against Crystal Palace on September 20th.

Football Insider Verdict

The protests planned by West Ham fans does nothing to help the cause of Potter in the short-term.

Potter needs the full backing of the club to succeed, and a boycott of the Brentford game is the last thing he needs.

West Ham and Brentford are likely to be two teams battling to stay up, so even this early in the season the fixture could be a pivotal one.

A positivity around the London Stadium seems impossible to create right now, and the mood looks to be turning increasingly sour, which is bad news for Potter.
