Tottenham fans are urging the club to move for West Ham star Lucas Paqueta after the latest update on their transfer activity.

It has been a frustrating summer window for Spurs, with the club struggling to bring in the attacking reinforcements they had targeted.

Despite securing Mohammed Kudus earlier in the window, talks over a move for Savinho have stalled, while rivals Arsenal hijacked their deal for Eberechi Eze, dealing them a further blow.

Kudus has at least made an immediate impact in North London, quickly establishing himself as a starter under Thomas Frank and impressing supporters with his performances.

West Ham fans criticised David Sullivan for allowing Kudus to leave for their London rivals — particularly at a fee of £55 million, well below his £80m release clause.

Now, the Hammers may face a sense of deja vu after fresh updates surrounding the future of Paqueta, with Tottenham fans calling on the club to make their move.

According to Simon Jones of the Daily Mail, Tottenham are continuing to “monitor the developments” of Paqueta and remain interested in securing his signature.

Jones added that the Brazilian is “open to leaving West Ham” and that the lure of Champions League football, which Spurs can offer, is proving attractive for him.

It has been a difficult 12 months for the Brazilian following spot-fixing allegations, but Paqueta was cleared of any wrongdoing after an FA hearing.

Even so, speculation around his future has persisted.

Football Insider previously reported that Paqueta could be available for £45 million as West Ham look to raise funds, despite already sanctioning the sale of Kudus earlier in the window.

The 27-year-old endured a frustrating campaign last season, scoring just five goals and failing to register an assist.

However, he has started the new season brightly, finding the net against Chelsea, and Spurs are now understood to be exploring the possibility of a move.

With James Maddison sidelined by an ACL injury, Spurs have been actively searching for midfield reinforcements.

After seeing their deal for Eze hijacked by Arsenal and an approach for Como midfielder Nico Paz rejected, attention now appears to have turned to Paqueta.

News of the interest has delighted Tottenham fans, who urged the club to push ahead with a deal, while also enjoying the prospect of it coming at the expense of West Ham.

One fan wrote: “Imagine the meltdown if we nick both Kudus and Paqueta” while another added: “They need the money and if we come calling he’ll want out, would be the funniest meltdown of all time.”
