West Ham face being priced out of a move for Harvey Elliott, talkSPORT understands.
The Hammers have held talks with Liverpool over the England Under-21 hero, but could be hampered in their attempts to sign him by the Reds' asking price of over £40million.

Elliott has been heavily tipped to leave Anfield this summer after he cast doubt over his own future at the club.
And while a move to the London Stadium and the potential for more regular game time would surely be a tempting prospect for the 22-year-old, the Irons already appear to be reconsidering this.
So much so, that recently-appointed head of recruitment Kyle McCauley has already started working on a list of alternative options.
These are thought to include Elliott’s Anfield teammate Tyler Morton and Manchester City’s James McAtee, although the latter is believed to favour a move abroad.

Other players West Ham could look to are want-away Chelsea man Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Southampton's Mateus Fernandes.
The potential moves come as the east London outfit look to bolster their attacking midfield options following Mohamed Kudus' £55m sale to Tottenham.
Even if Graham Potter's side were to reconsider their stance on Elliott, they would face competition to secure his services.
Jurgen Klopp's RB Leipzig and Newcastle are among the other clubs interested in the Englishman.

Interestingly, England legend Stuart Pearce told talkSPORT in June that a move to east London would be ideal for both Elliott and West Ham.
When playing a game of 'Transfer Tinder' on the talkSPORT Breakfast show, he was asked about a potential deal for the player.

Pearce replied: “[Swipe] right, every day for me, on both counts.
“The player needs to play.
When [Jurgen] Klopp left, he said: 'I should have played Harvey Elliott a bit more'.
Right."
Pearce's comments came after Elliott himself revealed he was considering his future on Merseyside due to a lack of playing time.
Since joining Liverpool as a 16-year-old in 2019, Elliott has gone on to feature 147 times, the majority of which have been as a substitute.

Elliott would have hoped to have a bigger impact during the 2024/25 season
His minutes were particularly limited last term, starting just two of his 18 Premier League appearances as his side stormed to the league title in Arne Slot's first season in charge.
This represented a disappointing campaign for the playmaker compared to the season before, where he played a total of 53 games, including 27 starts, and registered four goals and 11 assists.
Sharing an update on his future in June, Elliott said: "It's just a situation that me and the team have to have a conversation about because I'm coming into an age now where I'm 22, I'm going to be 23 next season.
"I don't really want to be wasting years [of] my career, because it's a short career.
I need to see if I'm content in doing what I'm doing and how can I improve as a player because that's the most important thing.

"I just want to improve and be the best possible version of myself.
If that's to go somewhere else, then it's a decision that I'm going to have to make and I just need to see what happens."
Elliott played 28 games in all competitions last season, six of which were starts, while he totalled five goals and three assists, including netting a late winner in the first leg of a last-16 Champions League tie at Paris Saint-Germain in March.
