West Ham have made a slow start to the season, piling further pressure onto Graham Potter to turn their fortunes around.
Potter is currently fighting to keep his job at West Ham after a poor start to the new Premier League season.
They suffered damaging defeats to Sunderland, Chelsea and Wolves in the first three games of the campaign, but a surprise win at Nottingham Forest looked to have bought him some valuable time before Tottenham trounced Potter’s side last week.
Crystal Palace worsened West Ham’s situation with a 2-1 win at the London Stadium on Saturday (20 September), following Tyrick Mitchell’s late winner, as Football Insider revealed prior to the Eagles clash that Potter had four games to save his job.
Hammers co-owner David Sullivan wants former boss Slaven Bilic to replace Potter if a decision is made, while Nuno Espirito Santo has held talks with West Ham bosses about potentially taking charge, but a new update has revealed the players’ thoughts towards a change being made.

Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (24 September) that Potter is set to get a stay of execution at West Ham due to legal issues surrounding the club’s first-choice replacement option, Nuno.
He has also now been backed by his players, with the Telegraph (25 September) reporting that the names linked with Potter’s position have “not generated excitement” among senior squad members, and they are “not convinced” that a change of head coach would make much of a difference.

Senior players are thought to still believe that the 50-year-old is the best man available for the job, while there remains faith within the squad in his work at the training ground and that results and performances can improve.
It has looked as if the end of Potter’s ill-fated reign at the London Stadium was nigh, but even though may Hammers fans have very clearly turned on him, he is set to get the chance to put things right.
There were clear warning signs last season that his side were set to struggle this time around as they won just two of their final 11 league games of the campaign, and things have unsurprisingly continued in a similar vein this term.

The fact that a number of out-of-work managers have been sounded out for his job shows that Potter is facing an uphill battle to turn the tide, though, and he needs to get positive results as soon as possible in order to keep his job.
West Ham face a tough trip to David Moyes‘ Everton this weekend, who are unbeaten in their three home games so far, while they then travel to Arsenal on 4 October and host Brentford after the international break.
It certainly feels like his players need to back up their thoughts and at least put in some decent performances in the next two games, or Potter may not survive the next two-week interval before that Bees clash.
