Jurgen Klopp’s side have almost no chance of getting their hands on more silverware this season after that result, but they will need to keep winning in case of an unlikely turnaround.

They take on the Hammers who are coming off the back of two consecutive defeats, being beaten convincingly by Crystal Palace last time out.

Both West Ham and Liverpool are coming to the end of an era.

Klopp will be leaving Anfield at the end of the campaign and things are not going as planned as his side have crumbled in the Premier League title race.

Meanwhile, it also seems that David Moyes’ tenure as Hammers boss is set to come to a close with fans unhappy with the club’s performance.

Moyes is yet to sign a new contract and he, as well as the board, understand that the fractured relationship between the support and manager will impact his future.

Both managers have been in charge of their respective clubs for many years and they have experienced success, however, it seems their times are up.

They will meet in the dugout one more time before Klopp is potentially replaced by Arne Slot and Moyes’ position is possibly taken by Ruben Amorim.

West Ham have lost 12 of their last 14 Premier League games against Liverpool, with both exceptions in this run coming at home (1-1 in February 2019, 3-2 in November 2021).

Jarrod Bowen has missed West Ham’s last two league games and was only able to play in Europe after having an injection.

He may be fit enough to feature while Nayef Aguerd and Konstantinos Mavropanos are both aiming to return to the squad this weekend.

As for Liverpool, Diogo Jota remains out injured after picking up a knock against Fulham.

Cody Gakpo missed the Merseyside derby due to his wife being close to giving birth but he should be back available for this one.

Thiago and Joel Matip are the two main absentees, however, Klopp could rotate his side with this being their third game in a week.

Alan Pardew questions Jurgen Klopp for 'strange' decision to announce his departure from Liverpool half way through the season during a Premier League title raceLiverpool have already beaten West Ham 3-1 in the Premier League and 5-1 in the League Cup so far this season.

Since keeping back-to-back clean sheets against Liverpool in the 2015-16 campaign, West Ham have conceded at least once in each of their last 15 against the Reds, conceding multiple goals in 12 of those games.

We create, we don't use them often enough.

"To the end of the season it's obviously not great because the first thing you need is results, for that you need to score goals, shouldn't concede, would be helpful as well.

“Yeah, nothing good to say about this today."

Jarrod Bowen has scored in both of West Ham’s meetings with Liverpool so far this season – the only Hammers player to score in three different games against the Reds in a single campaign is Geoff Hurst in 1964-65.
