Dominik Szoboszlai played a crucial role for Liverpool as they won the Premier League title on Sunday.

The 24-year-old then set up his side’s fourth goal for Mohamed Salah after carrying the ball forward through midfield and feeding the Egyptian on the edge of the box.

Becoming the first Hungarian to ever win the Premier League, Szoboszlai’s performance marked a return to form after a number of below-par performances in recent weeks.

The midfielder now has seven goals and seven assists for the season from 45 appearances in all competitions, having been utilised in a more advanced role under new head coach Arne Slot.

While his goal return is currently equal to his total last season in his first season at Anfield after signing in a £60m deal from RB Leipzig, he has claimed three more assists in the current campaign.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has previously insisted on more than occasion that the Reds should look to replace Szoboszlai, believing the Hungarian does not score produce enough in front of goal.

“I think Szoboszlai, Liverpool can improve that,” he recently said when speaking on The Overlap: Stick to Football podcast, brought to you by Sky Bet.

In his Telegraph column earlier this month, Carragher also urged Liverpool to sign ‘an attacking midfielder who will score and create more than Dominik Szoboszlai,’ having previously admitted he was not the Hungarian’s ‘biggest fan’ on the The Overlap Fan Debate, brought to you by Sky Bet, back in February.

But while the Reds legend might want to see Liverpool upgrade on Szoboszlai, it would appear Slot feels otherwise.

Slot’s former captain at Feyenoord, Jens Toornstra, has recalled how he recently spoke to the Reds head coach about the Hungarian and he made his feelings about the Liverpool midfielder perfectly clear.

“I spoke to him recently about Szoboszlai,” Toornstra told ESPN.

“He proudly said: ‘Look at how much work he does and at what pace.’

“That typifies Slot; he always hammers on intensity with his players.”
