Ange Postecoglou’s start to life at Nottingham Forest couldn’t have gone any worse, as his side fell to a 3-0 defeat at The Emirates.

Facing Arsenal was Postecoglou’s worst nightmare in his first match as Nottingham Forest head coach, and the match went as badly as the Australian could have imagined.

Disaster struck for Postecoglou 24 hours before kick off when Forest announced that defender Ola Aina is set to miss several weeks with a hamstring injury.

Things went from bad to worse for Nottingham Forest midway through the first half as Murillo also had to come off injured, with Postecoglou’s side already 1-0 down.

Zubimendi doubled his tally and tripled Arsenal’s lead midway through the second half, and the Gunners faithful took a mocking jibe at Postecoglou from the stands.

The 60-year-old, was entrusted with replacing Nuno Espirito Santo at the City Ground just four months later, but pundits have criticised the appointment.

Postecoglou’s expansive system is a world away from the stubborn counter attacking style Espirito Santo had deployed.

Espirito Santo took the East Midlands club from a relegation battle to European qualification in 18 months, and Postecoglou will have to follow suit.

The Greek-born manager will have to deploy a tactical revolution at Forest, in the middle of a season, while battling against the lofty expectation that were set by his predecessor.
