Federico Chiesa is reportedly a subject of interest from Spanish La Liga side Real Betis.
As it stands, it would be far from a surprise if the Italian international departs Liverpool in the summer.
The Italian was Liverpool’s only addition in Arne Slot’s first season and came to the club with much promise.
However, a lack of fitness and a series of injury setbacks limited his impact early in the season.
By the time he was declared fully fit, it was already too late for him to stake a place in the starting XI, especially given Mohamed Salah’s form and fitness.
Chiesa made just 12 appearances in total – merely four in the Premier League – and has to start a single league match under Slot’s management.
Several clubs have been touted as a possible destination for him this summer.
AC Milan and Napoli are thought to be options, while there is also tentative interest from Turkey.
A new report on Wednesday also named Real Betis as an interested party, with the Spanish club said to be mulling over signing the Italy international as an alternative for Manchester United winger Anthony.
Anthony enjoyed a productive loan spell at the Villamarin Stadium, and Betis are willing to make his loan move permanent.
But Manchester United’s demands to sell the Brazilian are hindering the Spanish club.
As a result, Betis have set their sights on Chiesa and have already spoken to his agents.
Spanish publication, El Correo has now reported that Chiesa is keen on a move to Betis.
According to the report, the 27-year-old wants to join Real Betis to revive his career.
Chiesa’s camp is said to be inspired by Antony’s success under Betis’ head coach, Manuel Pellegrini.
“Chiesa’s entourage does like the ecosystem that Manuel Pellegrini’s Betis is forming so that players of this level show significant performance on the field,” the report said.
“Federico Chiesa’s entourage wants to find a way out for the player, whose future lies far from Anfield?
Heliopolis is known to be the perfect place to relaunch his career.
“Should both clubs try to reach an agreement to see the Genoa player wear the green and white jersey, the option to consider would be a loan with an option to buy, although the obligation to do so has not been specified at this time.”
