Florian Wirtz dropped a strong hint about his ambitions for Liverpool during his first official day at the club.
The 22-year-old was confirmed as a Liverpool player two days ago, joining in a deal worth £100m plus £16m in add-ons.
The fee makes Wirtz Liverpool’s most expensive signing in history, overtaking Darwin Nunez’s £85m move in 2022.
The German international wasted no time in laying out his lofty targets.

He arrives at Anfield full of belief, joining a side that just lifted the Premier League title and is targeting more silverware under Arne Slot.
Wirtz is no stranger to success himself.
The midfielder was instrumental in Bayer Leverkusen’s historic unbeaten Bundesliga title win in 2023/24, while also lifting the German Cup and German Super Cup.
Although Leverkusen missed out on a treble after losing to Atalanta in the Europa League final, Wirtz’s impact didn’t go unnoticed—he was named both Bundesliga Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season.
And he’s already faced his new team once.
Wirtz was part of the Leverkusen side that lost 4-0 at Anfield last season, an experience that clearly left a lasting impression.
