What Hugo Ekitike will bring to the Liverpool dressing room as former teammate reveals ‘amazing’ trait

Liverpool have announced yet another new signing as their team for next season is simply frightening on paper.

The Reds mean business this summer and after bringing in three new arrivals already, four if you include Giorgi Mamardashvili, they have added a fifth.

After requiring a striker for quite some time, Hugo Ekitike is the man they have decided to lead the line for them next season, with the Frenchman signing from Eintracht Frankfurt for £69m plus £10m in add-ons.

The 23-year-old has been tearing it up in the Bundesliga over the last 18 months, with many top sides looking at him, although he is said to only have wanted Liverpool.

It would be fair to assume that many fans have not seen too much of him and they are likely basing their opinion off highlight compilations on YouTube, something that makes him look simply incredible.

Although the jury is still out and only time will tell if he actually turns into a good signing, he is certainly a character off the pitch as well, with his former teammate suggesting he will add a lot to the Liverpool dressing room.

Personalities can play a huge role in whether a player makes a move to a club, with this something Liverpool are very keen to understand before deciding whether to sign them or not.

Ekitike has clearly ‘passed the test’ and all the signs suggest he will gel with the current players very well, just like the new arrivals already have.

He could certainly be one of the favourites among the group too after what his former teammate Jacob Schoop said about him, suggesting that he will only bring positive vibes to the dressing room.

“He was always in a good mood, and he liked to have some fun in the dressing room.

That’s not really the Danish culture – most of us were more reserved,” Schoop told BBC Sport back in April.

“He was a happy boy, and even though he didn’t play as much in the beginning, he trained well and had a really good attitude.

“The joy he had for playing was amazing to see.

Even during a tough session, he’d still be laughing, finding fun in beating players one-v-one, or putting in that little bit extra.”

He sounds exactly like the type of character Liverpool need this season as they face one of their toughest to date, indicating that he might be a good signing all round.

Although he clearly has talent and a positive personality to match, it is safe to say that the Frenchman has not got on with all the managers he has worked with in the past.

This is not necessarily because of anything negative, but because he maybe wanted too much, too soon, something his former coach at Reims pointed out.

“Within months, he wanted to reach the same level as Mbappe,” Oscar Garcia, Reims’ then head coach, told Sky Sports.

“He always was a talented player but some coaches did not like him because of his profile and sometimes because of his character.
