Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed he congratulated Liverpool's players on winning the Premier League after Sunday's 2-2 draw at Anfield.
The Reds secured a record-equalling 20th championship triumph with four games to spare as they thrashed Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 at Anfield last month.
As a result, the Gunners welcomed Arne Slot's side onto the field with a guard of honour at Anfield on Sunday afternoon before quickfire goals from Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz had Liverpool 2-0 ahead at the break.
But the Reds quickly lost their way after the restart when Gabriel Martinelli halved the deficit by heading Leandro Trossard's cross past Alisson Becker.
Proceedings at Anfield turned sour midway through the second half, however, when Trent Alexander-Arnold was introduced to the field.
The right-back was making his first appearance for the Reds since his announcement last week that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season.

Sections of the home support quickly made their feelings clear to Alexander-Arnold as he was booed while he stood on the touchline waiting to replace Conor Bradley.
And when he finally made his way onto the pitch, he continued to be jeered by supporters.
Such a sour turn of events played straight into Arsenal's hands as Arsenal capitalised on the unusual atmosphere by restoring parity via Mikel Merino with 20 minutes to play at Anfield.

After the game, Arteta could be seen in discussion with several Liverpool players, including Alexander-Arnold, with the Spaniard later revealing that he congratulated Slot's men for their recent title success.
Speaking to ViaPlay, Arteta said: "I congratulate all of the players for that because they deserve it.
"They have been the best team and I am sure they have put a lot of work and joy into that title and they deserve to be congratulated."
