Jacob Ramsey’s stuttering start to his Newcastle career is set to to continue with a timeline now in place for when the midfielder should return to action.

Ramsey joined Newcastle from Aston Villa in the summer, but has only made two appearances for the Toon so far this season due to injury.

The 24-year-old was substituted at half-time on his full debut against Leeds after making a second half appearance against Liverpool.

Eddie Howe is also without summer arrival Yoane Wissa, who is injured, in what has proved a difficult start to the season for Newcastle.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference before Newcastle host Arsenal, Howe confirmed Ramsey will not be available until October 18th, as per Craig Hope on X [26 September].

Ramsey is set to miss three Newcastle fixtures in the Premier League and Champions League before he returns after the international break.

Jacob Murphy is set to be available to Howe for the Arsenal clash, as he reported no new injury concerns from Newcastle’s 0-0 draw with Bournemouth.

The Toon have enjoyed hosting the Gunners in recent season, with four wins from the past five meetings at St James’ Park.

Newcastle have kept a clean sheet in all of those victories, and Howe’s side despite their goalscoring issues have looked tight defensively this season.

Four clean sheets in seven games in all competitions this seasons points to the glaring issue Howe needs to resolve to pick up more wins.
