Liverpool’s 2025 summer window has already been jaw-dropping, but the club’s pursuit Alexander Isak – a move that could smash the British transfer record -may yet be the cherry on top of a very expensive cake.
On Thursday, widespread reports exploded that the 25-year-old had told Newcastle United that he was seeking to explore his options this summer.
Newcastle initially portrayed Isak’s omission from the club’s 30-man squad for their pre-season tour of Singapore and South Korea as down to a “minor thigh injury.”
Yet, David Ornstein has alternatively asserted that the player himself asked to be excluded from the trip due to the transfer interest.
It certainly was a big revelation but one that is not too surprising all things considered.
Now it has been reported what some of the strikers teammates think of the situation.
The Daily Mail have reported that more than a few of Eddie Howe’s men feel that the 25-year-old will move on from St James’ Park this summer:
“There is a strong chance the Swede has kicked his last ball in black and white, and we understand several team-mates expect Isak to go, if Liverpool pay the £150million that Newcastle will demand,” Craig Hope reported.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media on Thursday, Bruno Guimares
“Alex hasn’t trained with a thigh issue that’s been ongoing since he’s been back that first few days,” the Brazilian said.
“I’m really close to him (Isak).
He’s a good guy.
He’s been through some rough things at this moment.
Isak is something I cannot control.
I hope he’s going to be fit when we come back to Newcastle to prepare for the new season.”
“They told us he was there in Newcastle because of his injury.
Of course he’s a top player for us and he’s going to be a miss on this trip?
