What Should Liverpool Supporters Expect from the Upcoming 2025/26 Premier League Season?

Liverpool Football Club climbed back to the top of their perch last season, as they dominated pretty much from start to finish on their way to a record-tying 20th championship win.

Under the guidance of their new head coach Arne Slot, who arrived to replace the outgoing Jurgen Klopp, The Reds bulldozed their way to a Premier League title win, one which very rarely looked to be in any doubt at any point throughout the campaign.

However, what happened last year will soon be put to bed as Liverpool set off on their quest to retain their title, which would in itself be a massive success again, but it would also come with the added bonus of taking The Reds clear of Manchester United, who they are currently tied with in terms of English League title wins.

Despite Liverpool winning the title last year, Sporting Director Richard Hughes has been very active in the transfer market, and there has been plenty of change amongst the club’s squad.

The likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Luis Diaz, Caoimhin Kelleher and Darwin Nunez have departed, whilst Giorgi Mamardashvili, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Florain Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike have all arrived, and by all accounts, Liverpool aren’t done quite yet.

Liverpool stormed to the title and gave a very good account of themselves in Europe too, only exiting the Champions League thanks to a penalty shootout defeat to the eventual winners of the competition, Paris Saint-Germain after a highly competitive two legs of action.

‘It’ll be our year’ is often a phrase used to mock Liverpool supporters, many of whom have been accused of being overly optimistic about their football club but this time around, things are a bit different.

It’s not just Liverpool supporters who are backing The Reds to win back-to-back Premier League titles, as many neutrals and pundits are doing the same thing too.

Despite the quality of all of Liverpool’s new signings, it is the arrival of Wirtz that has likely led to such optimism about the club’s chances of winning the title again in 2026.

Had one, or both, of these world class players left, it would be fair to expect that Liverpool would take a step back next season, but with both now tied down to new deals, there is little worry about either and they’ll both be desperate to become three-time Premier League title winners.

So, with all that said, what should Liverpool supporters expect from their team in the upcoming season?

The easy, quick answer is trophies!

Now, it must be said that there will need to be an element of patience around the club due to the number of changes to the squad over the summer and things might not look amazing straight away, but The Reds have enough quality in their team to overcome any settling in issues and the hope will be that the sheer number of excellent players they have will help them pick up points whilst they continue to work on the more nuanced parts of the game.

Liverpool supporters have often been ridiculed for suggesting that they have the best team in the Premier League, but there won’t be many mocking them for saying it now.
