Real Madrid are reportedly weighing up a move for Liverpool-linked Adam Wharton.

The Reds have long been linked with a move for Crystal Palace after he impressed in the Premier League following a move from Blackburn Rovers.

He has gone on to make 46 appearances for the Eagles and helped them win the FA Cup last season, playing a key role in the win in the final over Manchester City at Wembley.



And now a report in Spain has claimed that Real and Liverpool are two of the four clubs interested in signing the England international.

According to AS, via Sport Witness, Wharton, who features on the front cover of today’s paper, is attracting interest from Manchester City and Manchester United as well as Los Blancos and the Reds.

The report claims that Real are looking to improve their midfield, having lost Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, and will only be able to make a bid for the 21-year-old if they were to make an important sale in this window.

It is also claimed in the report that Palace would not sell the midfielder for any less than £70m, the same price they are expected to sell Eberechi Eze to Arsenal for.

Following Palace’s 1-0 FA Cup final win over City back in May, former Manchester United captain Roy Keane praised the former Blackburn man.

He said: "He's a classy little player, he always looks like he knows what he's doing.

Very classy, played well in the semi-final, I know he's been linked with bigger clubs, I like everything about him.

"There's parts he still needs to improve on, but if he's given time, really nice and tidy."

Wharton still has four years remaining on the contract he signed when he moved to Selhurst Park from Ewood Park for an undisclosed fee last year.
