A leading PR executive who has worked with Trent Alexander-Arnold on a number of campaigns has praised the outgoing Liverpool star for his generosity over the years.

Dan Hughes, who manages media relations for a variety of high profile figures including Premier League stars, has worked with Alexander-Arnold and his brother and representative Tyler for the past four years.

He also collaborated with Alexander-Arnold, alongside Reds legend Jamie Carragher, to help establish Football For Change as a driving force for social mobility across the North West.

Since its inception in 2021, more than £1m has been raised by FFC for disadvantaged young people across the region through the help of Alexander-Arnold and other high-profile sports stars including Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney and Reds duo Harvey Elliott and Andy Robertson.

In November last year, Football For Change's annual gala was held at the city centre's Titanic Hotel and was sold on the promise of a sit-down Q&A with co-chair Carragher and Alexander-Arnold, who has been a long-time advocate of the charitable organisation.

Around £150,000 was brought in on the night, with funds going towards Zoe's Place at a time that saw the hospice fighting for £5m that was needed to remain operating as a vital source of help for families with terminally ill children.

After the event, which kicked off with a message of praise from Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, it was announced that £22,000 would be donated from the money raised to help with Zoe's Place's cause, which was ultimately successful.

Alexander-Arnold was also present for a chat with the legendary Carragher earlier that year for FFC's springtime lunch event in the Liver Building, and Mr Hughes highlighted to the ECHO the 26-year-old's willingness to give back to charity across Merseyside and beyond during their time working together.

“He’s lived every young Scouser’s dream: winning it all during a golden era and etching his name into Liverpool Football Club's legacy," says Mr Hughes.

"Off the pitch, Trent and his family's commitment to the city of Liverpool has been just as powerful.

They’ve quietly supported local causes with humility and heart, never seeking praise.

"He is more than a world-class footballer; he is a truly great person.

"Everyone is sad to see him leave but as he begins this new chapter at Real Madrid, I have no doubt he will further cement his status as a superstar across Europe."

Rae Brooke, CEO of the Communities Foundations for Lancashire and Merseyside, which manages the Football For Change fund, said: "Trent’s involvement in the launch of Football For Change, alongside Jamie Carragher and Conor Coady, has been outstanding.

"He has used his platform to make a real difference in the lives of young people affected by poverty.

From attending fundraisers and donating incredible prizes, to giving his time to meet the young people we support - he’s been truly brilliant.

"He's always going to be part of Football For Change whether he's in Liverpool or Spain."

On Monday, Alexander-Arnold confirmed his plans to leave Liverpool at the end of his contract on June 30, bringing to a close a 20-year association with his boyhood club.

Real Madrid are currently in negotiations with the Reds to see if they can sign the England international before his contract officially ends so he can play a part in the Club World Cup in the United States next month.

Alexander-Arnold, who told Liverpoolfc.com on Monday that he accepts his decision will be criticised by some supporters, will leave Anfield having won two Premier League titles, the 2019 Champions League and Club World Cup trophies, two League Cups and the FA Cup in 2022.
