Liverpool beat Newcastle in the most dramatic of fashions on Monday evening as Rio Ngumoha announced himself to the Premier League.

Ngumoha had an excellent pre-season for the Reds, showing himself to be a genuine option in Arne Slot’s attack.

And after having thrown away a two goal lead for the second time in succession, Slot decided he had nothing to lose but throw the 16-year-old on.

It turned out to be an inspired decision, as Ngumoha finished off a brilliant move for Liverpool in the final minute of injury time.

It was a wonderful finish from the teenager, who sent the travelling support into delirium.

And it was not only the Liverpool fans who enjoyed Ngumoha’s strike.

Watching on from home as he nurses and injury, teammate Jeremie Frimpong could not hide his delight.

Liverpool could have probably done with Frimpong on Monday night.

Without Conor Bradley as well, Dominik Szoboszlai had to fill in at right-back.

As it turned out, Szoboszlai did brilliantly, and once he moved into a more natural midfield role, he played a crucial part in Ngumoha’s goal.
