Real Madrid took on Manchester City at the Etihad in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash.
However, Rodrygo Goes opened the scoring for the Spanish side in the first half before Kevin De Bruyne levelled the scores after the break.
City dominated large parts of the game, but they just couldn’t break Real Madrid down.
The game went to extra time and then to penalties, and Carlo Ancelotti’s side came out on top then.
After the game, Real Madrid star Federico Valverde was named as the Player of the Match for his terrific performance at the Etihad Stadium.
The Uruguayan, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool, is having a fine season, and Vinicius Jr was really impressed with him last night.
Replying to Valverde’s Instagram post, Vinicius wrote: “What a player!
They will need their top players to step up, and they might also have to bring in elite footballers to keep the club near the top.
That’s probably why Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde is on their list.
El Debate in Spain claimed recently that Liverpool are obsessed with the Uruguay international and have wanted to sign him for about five years now.
The most interesting claim in the report is that Liverpool have made a €150m (£129m) bid to sign Valverde, and that offer is still on the table.
We don’t expect Real Madrid to accept any bids for Valverde, but if Liverpool can somehow get him, it would be an incredible piece of business by Michael Edwards.
