Alexander Isak was reportedly under the impression that a bid of £100m or more would enable him to leave Newcastle United this summer.

The forward released an explosive transfer statement on Tuesday night in which he said his relationship with Newcastle is now over.

The striker went public for the first time about his summer-long row with the club on Tuesday night and accused them of 'breaking promises' in a statement released on Instagram.

And now, according to the Mail, Isak is believed to be of the belief that a bid of £100m or more would see his release from Newcastle this summer.

Liverpool had an £110m offer rejected at the beginning of the month, and it remains to be seen whether they will return with an offer that would get close to Newcastle’s £150 million asking price.

In his statement, Isak said: “When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can’t continue.

To now act as if these issues are only emerging is misleading.”

Responding to Isak’s claims, Newcastle issued a statement, saying: “We are disappointed to have been alerted to a social media post by Alexander Isak this evening.

“Alex remains under contract and that no commitment has ever been made by a club official that Alex can leave Newcastle United this summer.

“We want to keep our best players, but we also understand players have their own wishes and we listen to their views.

As explained to Alex and his representatives, we must always take into consideration the best interests of Newcastle United, The conditions of a sale this summer have not transpired.
