Liverpool's task of winning the Premier League title just got slightly more difficult thanks to Arsenal's latest result.

The Reds are currently battling with the Gunners and Manchester City to win the league title in Jurgen Klopp's final season at Anfield. Liverpool have already won the Carabao Cup this season but were knocked out of the FA Cup and Europa League within the last few weeks.

Now the Premier League remains Liverpool's only chance to win a second piece of silverware in Klopp's final season. And the task of doing so has got much tougher after what unfolded on Tuesday night.

Arsenal claimed a 5-0 win over Chelsea on Tuesday at the Emirates Stadium. As a result, Liverpool are now three points behind the Gunners going into the Merseyside derby against Everton on Wednesday night.

The five-goal winning margin has meant that Arsenal now have an even more superior goal difference compared to the Reds. The Gunners now have a goal difference of +56, which is 13 better than the +43 that Liverpool have after 33 games.

Man City are third in the table and have a game in hand over the Reds, and two over Arsenal, Their goal difference is +44 as they prepare to face Brighton on Thursday night.

The Reds will have the chance to improve their goal difference when they face Everton on Wednesday night. However, even with a victory at Goodison Park, Liverpool will still not be able to climb above Arsenal in the table before the weekend.

Liverpool have five more fixtures to try and close the gap on goal difference to Arsenal. However, Klopp's priority will be to win their five remaining games and see where that leaves them in the table.

After facing Everton, the Reds will have just four fixtures to try and beat Arsenal and Man City to the title. The run-in will include away games against Aston Villa and West Ham as well as Anfield fixtures against Tottenham Hotspur and Wolves.
