Undermanned Liverpool produced an imperious performance to claim a 3-0 win over Leicester City on Sunday.

The match was billed as a heavyweight bout after a fine start to the season for Leicester, who hoped to send a message by beating the wounded Reds.

Liverpool are now level with Tottenham at the top of the Premier League table, while Leicester must now lick their wounds after being thoroughly outplayed at Anfield.

That was not until the 86th minute when Firmino ended his torrid run in front of goal to score with an excellent header from James Milner's corner.

They might have been without six starters in their line-up, but Liverpool did not take their foot off the pedal and made Leicester look pedestrian in the second stanza.

The Portugal international, arguably the man-of-the-match, got on the end of Andy Robertson's superb front post cross to send a downward header into Schmeichel's goal.

Liverpool eventually did get their second before half-time through Diogo Jota.
