Armin Pecsi has admitted he was shocked when he realised Liverpool wanted to sign him.
The Reds confirmed the signing of the goalkeeper on Saturday in a deal worth up to £1.5m.
Joining from Puskas Akademia, it is a club record fee for the Hungarian top-flight team.
The 20-year-old - who has been nominated for the Golden Boy award - became first choice for his side this season as they finished second to Robbie Keane’s Ferencvaros.
Making 36 appearances in all competitions during the 2024/25 season, Pecsi featured 52 times for Puskas Akademia prior to his switch to Anfield.
And the shot-stopper was blown away by how closely Liverpool had followed his progress during transfer talks with the club.

“It was obviously a very good feeling, even when I first heard about the possible interest, or that they were watching me,” he told MLSZ TV.
“And then as things developed and it became clear that it could be something more serious, I was rather shocked.
“It occurred to me that it was what I had been working for in recent years, to possibly have such opportunities in my life.
“I met with a few members of the medical staff who conducted the various tests and a separate group were responsible for my recruitment.
