Leicester City have become the latest club to feel the wrath of the Premier League in what seems like a major tightening of financial rules, with the club becoming the third to be charged with a breach on Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
The club have also been charged for failing to submit their financial accounts, and the charge relates to the assessment period ending last season, the case will now be forwarded to an independent commission.
"LCFC remains willing and eager to engage constructively with the Premier League and the EFL to seek the proper resolution of any potential charges, by the right bodies, and at the right time,” it read.
The case against Leicester is the fifth, following two charges against Everton and one against Nottingham Forest and the ongoing one against Man City.
Manchester City’s 115 charges are taking longer with no case expected to be heard until at least the summer, despite being officially charged before Everton last year.
Like with the cases against Everton and Nottingham Forest, this year’s title race will not be impacted by the charges against Leicester.
