Football cliche decrees shockwaves are felt across the world whenever a major story breaks.

On Sunday, though, there genuinely was seismic activity sparked by Arne Slot's all-conquering Liverpool team.

A seismometer placed in the Main Stand at Anfield last Sunday recorded a peak magnitude of 1.74 on the Richter scale when the home supporters reacted to Alexis Mac Allister's wondrous strike that put the Reds ahead on their way to a 5-1 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur and sealing the Premier League title.

Having waited 35 years to celebrate together winning the championship, Liverpool supporters were clearly determined to make the most of the occasion.

“I read that story!" laughs Slot.

Becoming a trophy-winning machine should be the aim.

"You cannot expect anything, especially not in this competition, but we are aiming to be the club, the team that can win two out of five instead of two in 35," says Slot.

"And that's the ambition we have, I have, the players have, FSG has, the whole club has, and we also feel we have the quality for this, because otherwise you can't win it two times in five years.

"I think four, five of them are the same players that won it five years ago.

So now the ones that won it for the first time should have the same mentality as the ones that won it five years ago."

The scenes throughout the day in and around an emotional Anfield - and the buzz across the Red portion of Merseyside during the following week - will resonate long after the tremors of Mac Allister's memorable goal have subsided.

To think it will be another three weeks before Slot and his players finally get their hands on the Premier League trophy after the final game at home to Crystal Palace, with the parade - which is likely to attract approaching a million people - to come the following day.
