Jurgen Klopp only has two Anfield games left as Liverpool manager and will grace the home dressing room for the final time as boss in the curtain-closer against Wolves on May 19.

The squad will be under the guidance of a new coach in less than three months’ time, with Arne Slot set to take charge after the club agreed a £9.4m compensation package with Feyenoord ahead of his summer switch.

According to The Times, the Dutchman will have slightly different responsibilities than his predecessor, with the 45-year-old set for the role of ‘head coach’ rather than ‘manager’.

He will nevertheless be required to get the buy-in of his players as Klopp has done throughout his tenure.

A number of figures have already been asked about their thoughts of working under a new Liverpool boss for the first time, with some speaking directly about Slot himself.

"I find it difficult to answer it now, of course… but I think Arne Slot might be one of the better Dutch coaches at this moment,” Van Dijk told Viaplay last week, insisting that such focus remains on the run-in.

"I think the way he plays and the philosophy he has that he could be a Liverpool coach.

Next year we will focus on that."

Andy Robertson echoed Van Dijk’s sentiment, adding that attention should be paid to giving Klopp a justified send-off before going full throttle under his successor.

That is what us as players have to focus on and we will focus on the new era when it comes to it in the summer."

Klopp himself has given Slot his stamp of approval when asked about the two-time Eredivisie Manager of the Year winner.

It’s going to be strange, but I think I like the idea of a new challenge for the team, the players and the club.”

He added: “The new manager is going to come in and change the way we play, and it’ll be a different culture and different messages.

“But as long as the mentality to win, the eagerness to win and the internal pressure within ourselves and the demand to win things and be in a title race next season, no matter who the manager is, then we’ll be fine.”
