Daniel Levy’s departure from Tottenham has seemingly been hailed by former Spurs owner Joe Lewis’ family as the club anticipate big changes following the shock news.
Many Tottenham supporters will have thought they would never see the day where Daniel Levy was to leave their football club, but the wishes of the majority of the fanbase have now come true.
Levy has stepped down from his role as Tottenham’s executive chairman with immediate effect, and existing director Peter Charrington has become the Lilywhites’ new non-executive chairman as a result.
Spurs have seen some changes made to their board in recent years prior to this major shake-up, after American businessman Joe Lewis ceased control as owner in October 2022, with his stakes in the club passed to the Lewis Family Trust.
Lots of Tottenham fans are happy that Levy has gone after his 24 years in charge, and those sentiments are seemingly shared by the Trust following a new statement.

Sky News’ sports correspondent Rob Harris shared a statement on behalf of majority owners, the Lewis family, to his X account on Thursday (4 September), saying: “Source close to Lewis family tells us: ‘Generations of the Lewis family support this special football club and they want what the fans want – more wins more often.
This is why you have seen recent changes, new leadership and a fresh approach'”
He went on to further their words in a second post, adding: “’In Vinai (Venkatesham), Thomas (Frank) and Peter Charrington, they believe they are backing the right team to deliver on this.
This is a new era.’”

Tottenham have not seen such a major change to the way they operate since Lewis left, but this is clearly a lot bigger than that, and their statement reflects a desire to push the club forward in the 63-year-old’s absence.

Levy’s recent sacking of Ange Postecoglou was certainly controversial after he had led Spurs to Europa League glory in May, but he would obviously not have been the only one making such a big decision, and they look to have picked a strong candidate in Thomas Frank to help deliver more success.
Even though many fans will be glad to see the back of their now ex-chairman, the only way the club can actually make something of his departure is by being successful on the pitch this season under the Dane.

Frank has got off to a decent start with two wins from his first three league games after a narrow defeat to PSG in the UEFA Super Cup, and his squad looks ready to compete on all fronts after Xavi Simons joined Tottenham alongside the likes of Mohammed Kudus and Randal Kolo-Muani.
Simply put, they can make all the changes they want at the top, but what really matters is who the employ to get the best out of the players on the pitch, and they must have a good 2025/26 campaign to set themselves up to take advantage of potential new investment now that Levy has left.
