Alexander Isak has been backed to seal his move to Liverpool despite Yoane Wissa staying at Brentford instead of getting the Champions League football he wants at Newcastle.

The Swedish forward has been locked in an ongoing transfer saga over his potential move to current Premier League Champions Liverpool.

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider it could cost Liverpool £150million to sign Isak from Newcastle this summer.

His exit could pave the way for Brentford‘s main forward to take his place after sources told Football Insider Wissa will cost Newcastle £50m, an offer that would likely be accepted.

Ex-Southampton striker Matt Le Tissier weighed in on the number 14’s prospective move to Anfield, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, and whether the Bees can really afford to let go of the Congolese attacker.

Yet, Le Tissier is not sure that Isak’s potential move to St James’ Park will signify a guaranteed transfer for Wissa in a domino effect fashion.

He said: “I think the way this goes because it doesn’t look like Yoane Wissa is going to go anywhere.

“You know, Brentford already lost Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbeumo over the last couple of years.

So, they’re really going to want to keep hold of him [Wissa].

“So, that means does [Alexander] Isak end up going to Liverpool?

And I think he does.

“The club [Newcastle] could dig their heels in, but with the PSR rules and all that kind of stuff, it’s really difficult for them now.

“And sometimes, you know, clubs don’t really want to cut off their nose despite their face.

And I think that’s what’s going to end up happening.

“I think Isak will end up a Liverpool player now.”

Whilst the Reds appear to be the only suitors for arguably the hottest striking talent on the planet right now, there are no guarantees of a move to Anfield this summer.

Sources previously told Football Insider that Isak could make a dramatic U-turn to play again for Newcastle given he needs to build up his fitness for a potential 2026 World Cup with Sweden.

If Liverpool decide not to sign Isak this summer from Newcastle, the 25-year-old may rethink his approach to the whol transfer saga and bid to embed himself again in the Magpies camp.

Moreover, the fact that Arne Slot’s side have already splashed a monumental amount of cash this summer, they may opt to come back for the number 14 a year from now.

Therefore, by sitting in the reserves and not cooperating with his club, the former Borussia Dortmund striker is damaging his chance of a future move to Liverpool as well.
