Alexander Isak is travelling to Merseyside to undergo his medical ahead of a record-breaking move to Liverpool.

The Reds will shatter the British-record transfer should the Swede complete his move worth £125million after an agreement with Newcastle United was reached.

The 25-year-old is set to join the Premier League champions and current league leaders ahead of a crucial period for the club.

With Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz completing their respective Anfield exits, Liverpool have seen their attacking options diminish.

Isak has been named in Jon Dahl Tomasson's squad for the forthcoming international break, with Sweden taking on Slovenia and Kosovo in their World Cup qualifiers.

His inclusion was somewhat of a surprise after failing to feature in any of Newcastle's opening three Premier League matches, as well as training away from the first-team since July.

All eyes will be on the striker when he finally puts pen to paper on a six-year contract at Anfield and when he can make his debut.

However, the Reds will have to be mindful when integrating the record arrival into the first-team due to his lack of competitive minutes in recent months.

Liverpool return to Premier League action with a trip to newly-promoted Burnley before their Champions League campaign kicks off with the visit of Atletico Madrid on September 17.

Arne Slot's side have a relentless comeback to club football with five matches in 16 days as they take on rivals Everton and Crystal Palace before making the journey to Galatasaray to end the month.

Transfer deadline day is almost upon us and Liverpool still have business to do.

It's already been a busy summer for the Premier League champions but they could still pull off a couple of blockbuster signings as the window comes to a close.

Alexander Isak's future remains unresolved, with the striker refusing to play or train for Newcastle United.

Liverpool remain interested in a deal for the Swede.

Meanwhile, Marc Guehi has been a player of interest all summer and Liverpool could still launch a last-minute deal for the Crystal Palace defender.
