The latest reports from Germany have revealed when Florian Wirtz is likely to have his Liverpool medical.

Weeks after Liverpool’s interest in Wirtz was first reported, the German international appears close to completing his move to Anfield.

Reports emerged on Tuesday night that the Reds had secured an agreement in principle to sign the 22-year-old.

After seeing three of their bids rejected by Bayer Leverkusen, the Reds finally reached a breakthrough in negotiations with the German club.

This was first revealed by reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, who revealed that “Liverpool verbally agree deal in principle with Bayer Leverkusen for package reaching €150m add-ons included.”

The journalist also revealed that the 22-year-old German is soon to become a Liverpool player, as his medical is scheduled to take place in the coming days.

The news of the agreement between Liverpool and Leverkusen was also confirmed by Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, who wrote that “Florian Wirtz to Liverpool is considered to be a done deal!”

Although the report of a deal already for Wirtz has already been agreed between Liverpool and Leverkusen was clarified by David Ornstein, who denied that the deal is done, the feeling is that nothing stands between Wirtz and a move to Anfield.

Liverpool’s patient but firm approach in negotiations have  paid off and they are set to get their main transfer target.

And now, a German publication, SZ, has revealed when Wirtz is likely to have his Liverpool medical.

According to the publication, Wirtz’s medical is booked for this week.

“Wirtz will have a “medical check” on Thursday, if not on Wednesday, an experienced football broker told the SZ.

This means: The 22-year-old international will complete the medical, which is mandatory before signing a contract.”

The report also revealed that Wirtz chose Liverpool against the wish of his father, who wanted him to sign for Bayern Munich.

“And if everything is perfect, then he will have achieved the goal he himself chose,” the report added.

“His father, Hans, who acts as his advisor, according to all sources, would have preferred to place him in the trusted hands of FC Bayern.

His mother, Karin, who is also an advisor, was somewhere in between, it is said.”
