Liverpool moved a step closer to completing the signing of Florian Wirtz after agreeing a deal with Bayer Leverkusen.

The Germany international emerged as a key target for the Reds last month, with the summer transfer window set to reopen on Monday.

As reported by the ECHO, Liverpool have agreed a deal worth a total of £116million for the signing of Wirtz this summer.



The total package of the deal will include the Reds paying Leverkusen an initial £100million fee, with a further £16million in add-ons.

If Liverpool were to complete the formalities of the transfer, which will include a medical, all eyes will be on when Wirtz will wear a Reds shirt for the first time.

And it won't be long until the 22-year-old will get his first opportunity to impress his new supporters.

Liverpool will kick off their pre-season preparations with a clash against Preston North End on July 13.

The friendly fixture at Deepdale could be when Wirtz plays for the Reds for the first time.
