It could be just a matter of time before Hugo Ekitike is confirmed as a Liverpool player, with the Reds widely reported to have agreed a deal with Eintracht Frankfurt now.
After a rollercoaster week in which it initially looked as though a move for Alexander Isak could be on the table, Liverpool has quickly moved on to Ekitike, with a transfer now looking as though it could be confirmed soon.
Personal terms were agreed shortly after an initial approach was made to Eintracht, with Liverpool having been in talks with the Bundesliga side over the past few days.
According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, and plenty of other outlets, Liverpool has now reached a full agreement with Eintracht following further discussions on Sunday.
The Reds have reportedly agreed on a fee of around $111M, including add-ons, and a medical will take place soon, with Ekitike set to sign a contract until 2031.
Liverpool fans will therefore be keeping a close eye on the club’s social media channels over the coming days as they eagerly await an announcement, which could arrive very soon.
.
Hugo Ekitike will reportedly sign a six-year deal at Liverpool.
Even before it was widely reported that a deal had been agreed with Eintracht, The Guardian reported that a move was expected to be completed within the next week.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein also reported late on Saturday that work would be done on the deal in the “next day or so”, meaning a medical and announcement might well follow later in the week.
That means, assuming Ekitike undergoes his medical on Merseyside, he will miss the first stages of Liverpool’s tour to Asia, with the Reds flying to Hong Kong today ahead of facing AC Milan on July 26.
There is the possibility though that he could link up with his new teammates at a later stage, with Liverpool set to move on to Japan for a game against Yokohama F Marinos on July 30.
