Liverpool stand on the verge of completing their first signing of the summer transfer window.
Last year, Reds supporters had to wait until the final week of August to see a new player come through the door.
This time, sporting director Richard Hughes looks set to seal an important addition before the season has even come to an end.
That player is of course Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong.
Liverpool triggered Frimpong’s £30m release clause on Saturday on the final day of the Bundesliga campaign.
As a result, the Dutch defender will now fly to England and complete the formalities of his transfer to Liverpool.
With things moving quickly to avoid any last minute competition for Frimpong, journalist Lewis Steele has revealed the timeline for the 24-year-old’s medical and his signing with Liverpool.

In an ideal world, Liverpool often like to get their transfer business done nice and early.
And having had weeks to prepare following their coronation as Premier League champions, they have already been getting to work.

Taking to X on Sunday morning, Steele reported that it is set to be a busy couple of days at the Liverpool training ground, as Frimpong jets in to seal his move.
“Jeremie Frimpong is jetting in to England today and will undergo his Liverpool medical tomorrow ahead of hopefully signing a five-year deal,” said the journalist.

The news was then corroborated by Ben Jacobs, who confirmed that the medical will take place on Monday.
“Jeremie Frimpong will undergo his LFC medical on Monday,” Jacobs reported.
There is of course a small possibility that there is an issue with Frimpong’s medical and Liverpool have to pull the plug on the deal.
It wouldn’t be the first time that has happened to the Reds.
But the Netherlands international has an excellent track record with injury and although he didn’t play in Leverkusen’s final game of the season on Saturday, he was in action last Sunday.
That he did not appear during the German side’s 2-2 draw with Mainz was likely to ensure he did not risk a problem ahead of his transfer.
So, providing everything goes as planned for Frimpong, when will he be announced as a new Liverpool player?
It seems unlikely that it will happen on Monday, but either Tuesday or Wednesday feel like possibilities.
Frimpong will then likely wait until June 1st to officially become part of the Liverpool squad.
