Everton are closing in on signing Tyler Dibling from Southampton as David Moyes looks to add the final touches to his squad.
Moyes handed Toffees debuts to summer signings Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jack Grealish last time out, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Everton from being beaten by Leeds on Monday, 18 August.
After suffering a 1-0 defeat in West Yorkshire, thanks to Lukas Nmecha’s penalty, the Merseyside club host Brighton in their first Premier League game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday, 24 August.
Meanwhile, Everton have eyed a move for Manchester City defender Nathan Ake, who endured a lack of game time at the Etihad Stadium last term.

The Blues’ Premier League clash with Brighton will take place too soon for the 19-year-old winger to feature.
Meanwhile, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported via X on Friday, 22 August: “Everton close to agreement with Southampton for Tyler Dibling.
“Proposed deal just over £40million + sell-on to Saints and personals done in principle; all needs finalising.

Everton’s defeat at Leeds on Monday showed that Moyes needs an injection of extra pace and creativity in his side, which is exactly what Dibling can bring.

Despite being a member of a poor Southampton side who deservedly suffered an immediate return to the Championship last term, the 19-year-old successfully displayed his capabilities in the top flight.
Dibling notched just four goals and two assists in 38 appearances across all competitions for the Saints last season.
However, the youngster still boasts plenty of potential, while he will benefit from playing alongside better attackers like Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye.
Furthermore, Everton’s Carabao Cup tie against weaker opponents, Mansfield, on Wednesday, will hand Dibling a lower-pressure environment to settle into his new surroundings.
The fact that Moyes has pursued Dibling throughout the summer is a strong endorsement of his ability, and the North West club could soon depend on him in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, the Blues have been backed to sign Jamie Vardy in a Goodison News exclusive.
