The Spaniard is close to leading Bayer Leverkusen to its first ever Bundesliga title, with his side yet to taste defeat in any competition and playing some of the most eye-catching football in Europe.

It is why his former clubs are so keen on acquiring his services with Liverpool and Bayern Munich set to do battle this summer as they eye new managers.

He continued: "What a position to be in when he is only 42 and will have the chance to manage those teams in different times during his coaching career.

It is just a matter of choosing the right time for all of them."

Liverpool.com says: Alonso is going to face a big decision on his future soon, but Balague claims it could be made before the end of the season.

If Alonso is staying put, or moving to Bayern, the Reds need to have alternative options lined up.
