Liverpool have officially confirmed the signing of Florian Wirtz, completing a British record deal worth up to £116 million (via reports by Liverpool FC).

The 22-year-old arrives from Bayer Leverkusen after a standout campaign in Germany, where he scored 10 goals and assisted 13 more in the Bundesliga.

When will Wirtz make his first appearance in a Liverpool shirt?

With the club’s summer schedule now fully confirmed, there are a number of opportunities for fans to catch their new signing in action before the Premier League season kicks off.

The Reds’ pre-season officially starts on July 8, when players report to the AXA Training Centre.

Just five days later, on July 13, Liverpool face Preston North End in their first friendly, a likely stage for Wirtz’s unofficial debut.

From there, the club heads to Asia, with Wirtz expected to feature in the high-profile clash against AC Milan in Hong Kong on July 26, followed by a match against Yokohama F.

The tour will be an early chance for the German to settle into Arne Slot’s system.

Wirtz’s Anfield bow could come in the double-header against Athletic Bilbao on August 4, as Liverpool wrap up pre-season with two games in a day, one in the afternoon and another in the evening, giving supporters a final look before the competitive fixtures begin.

That first competitive appearance could arrive six days later.

The FA Community Shield takes place at Wembley on Sunday, August 10, with Liverpool facing Crystal Palace.

If fit and available, Wirtz is likely to feature in what would be his official debut in red.
