Liverpool are set to enter the next round of the Carabao Cup draw following Manchester United’s cup clash with Grimsby Town tonight.

Arne Slot’s time at Liverpool has been marked by painful defeats at the national stadium, with his last two trips to Wembley ending in disappointment.

The Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace on penalties in August was followed by an even more devastating blow in March, when Newcastle United ended Liverpool’s Carabao Cup defense with a 2-1 victory that marked the Magpies’ first domestic trophy in 70 years.

Liverpool will discover their third-round opponents tonight, following Manchester United’s second-round clash with Grimsby Town at Blundell Park.

With kick-off scheduled for 8:00 PM BST, the draw is expected to commence around 10:15 PM, depending on whether penalties are required

Sky Sports will broadcast the draw live across Sky Sports Football, Sky Sports Main Event, and Sky Sports Ultra HDR in the UK.

Fans can also stream the proceedings through the Sky Go app, while those without subscriptions can purchase a NOW TV Day Pass for coverage.

Liverpool have been assigned ball number 14 for tonight’s draw?

As one of nine Premier League clubs competing in European competitions this season, the Reds will be placed in Bowl One alongside Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, and Tottenham Hotspur.

A pre-draw will take place before the main ceremony to determine whether each European club will play at home or away in the third round.

This ensures that Champions League and Europa League teams cannot face each other, addressing potential fixture congestion during the European competition weeks.

The draw procedure involves alternating selections between Bowl One (European clubs) and Bowl Two (the remaining 24 qualified teams), with the first eight fixtures pairing a European team with a non-European opponent

The final eight ties will be drawn exclusively from Bowl Two.

As defending champions until March’s heartbreaking defeat, Arne Slot should be determined to extend Liverpool’s record 10 triumphs in the competition.
