Arne Slot surprised many by quietly skipping his usual pre-match media duties this week, opting instead to attend tonight’s Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris.

I can tell you now you won’t be seeing them on Tuesday.”

The Reds are expected to win against the Saints tomorrow evening, even with a rotated squad, and will want their name in the hat for the next round.

The draw for the Carabao Cup fourth round will take place on Wednesday evening, immediately following the conclusion of the third-round ties.

Should Arne Slot’s side overcome the Saints, they will discover their opponents from 10pm BST on Wednesday, in a one-pot draw without regional seeding.

The fourth-round fixtures are scheduled for the week commencing October 27, giving teams just over a month to prepare for their next cup commitments.
