Sunday’s Premier League match between Manchester United and Liverpool was postponed following huge protests from the home side’s fans against the Glazer’s ownership of the club.

The Premier League statement confirmed that 'the rearrangement of the fixture will be communicated in due course’.

Indeed, United are firmly on course to play in the Europa League final on Wednesday, May 26 - three days after the Premier League season concludes.

With United having one foot in the Europa League final three days later, that would leave the following weekend - with the Champions League final scheduled for the Saturday - as a free time slot.

On Wednesday 12 May, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side play Leicester - a fixture rescheduled due to the Foxes participation in the FA Cup - with Liverpool travelling to West Brom on Sunday 16 May.

This week was not possible due to United’s trip to Rome on Thursday to play the second leg of their Europa League semi-final, while this weekend sees Liverpool take on Southampton on Saturday with United travelling to Aston Villa the following day.

As things stand, there is no midweek left in the season in which both Manchester United and Liverpool are currently free.
