Liverpool clinched the Premier League title on Sunday, yet they weren’t the only side to make history on the weekend.
Down in League One, Wrexham confirmed their status in the Championship for next season for the first time in over 40 years, with the Welsh side also becoming the first team to claim back-to-back-to-back promotions from the National League to the English second-tier.
Backed by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, the Red Dragons’ rise in the last four years has been nothing short of incredible, with Wrexham now having realistic dreams of one day facing Liverpool in the Premier League in the coming years.
Yet things might have been different for Wrexham had billionaire investor Kaleen Allyn decided to put her money into Liverpool rather than the Welsh side.

Speaking to the Athletic, the Wrexham executive director shared how she invested in the League One side because she wanted to feel as connected to the story of a club on the rise rather than another investor in a big club, with Liverpool considered by Allyn.
With the likes of LeBron James investors in Liverpool, the Reds are not short of wealthy individuals helping them behind the scenes, with FSG expected to give Arne Slot a significant budget this summer to spend on new signings.
Yet for Allen, a story and club like Wrexham is more appealing than Liverpool, with the billionaire’s investment proving to be a good one with the Welsh side set to return to the English second-tier next season for the first time in four decades.

Allen said: “Even when we were looking at other clubs we were, like :’We want to be true partners with whoever we work with’.
Yes, Liverpool is an amazing club and when we were looking at that, we were, like: ‘This could be a great opportunity’, but this isn’t what we want.
We want to be true partners and get our hands dirty; be part of the story of what’s happening.
That’s the biggest honour.”
Wrexham’s rise since McElhenney and Reynolds’ takeover of the club has been nothing short of incredible, with few fans expecting the Welsh team to reach the Championship in 2025 after three successive promotions.
And for Liverpool fans, there is a real chance that the Reds could face off against Wrexham in the Premier League, with the soon-to-be Championship side now having the wind in their sails to go for a historic fourth promotion.
Indeed, Wrexham making the Premier League would be nothing short of incredible, yet the club will now have the full belief that they can make it after their latest promotion and financial backing from the likes of Allyn.
