Liverpool’s record-breaking move for Florian Wirtz is nearly complete — but one final step remains before an official announcement can be made.

As per Florian Plettenberg, Florian Wirtz is expected to arrive in Liverpool today (June 19).

The first part of his medical is expected to be completed later today if possible, with full medical tests likely to be done on Friday.

The transfer was first exclusively reported by Fabrizio Romano eight days ago.

Now, with all formalities sorted, only the medical remains before the official announcement.

“All documents are in place and then Wirtz will be unveiled as new Liverpool club record signing,” Romano tweeted.

Once unveiled, Wirtz will become Liverpool’s club-record signing, with the deal reportedly valued at around £116 million — surpassing previous marquee arrivals like Virgil van Dijk and Darwin Nunez.

The official unveiling is expected to follow once the medical, scheduled for this Friday, is completed.

While most of the deal is locked in, uncertainty remains around Wirtz’s salary — the one component yet to be “confirmed,” as highlighted by Fabrizio.

Initial media speculation suggested that Wirtz could be set to earn well above Liverpool’s typical wage structure.

However, Fabrizio clarified that these reports of a higher salary are not confirmed.

“His salary will be in the region of £200,000 per week plus bonuses,”
