Liverpool could lose some stars this summer, although they will be holding out for big money.

The Reds were braced for incoming bids for some of their top stars, and one of the first notable ones has already come and gone.

Bayern Munich have seen their £58.5m bid for Luis Diaz immediately rejected by Liverpool as it fell very short of their valuation for the player.

The Reds are holding out for around £87m as he is also wanted by Barcelona and Saudi Arabian sides, with Liverpool feeling this is a fair price given the current market.

Arne Slot is still very keen to have Diaz at the club next season despite the Colombian open to a move away, although reports suggest that this is not the end of the matter.

As many know, things can change very quickly in football and despite only just having a bid rejected for the 28-year-old, the Germans are already lining up another according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.

He reports that Diaz is still the priority target for the Bundesliga champions, indicating that they could significantly up their offer.

There is currently no agreement between the club and the player, however, although this is not expected to be a problem as he is said to be open to the move.

The fee that Bayern are willing to bid up to is not yet confirmed but it is highly unlikely that they will meet Liverpool’s valuation, although the offer will still need to be good enough for Richard Hughes to even consider negotiating.

The Reds also know that Bayern have the money to spend after trying to sign Florian Wirtz, indicating that the Merseyside club hold a strong position in negotiations and could receive a decent-sized fee.

The German giants are also desperate to bring in reinforcements following the injury to Jamal Musiala, meaning they will want to act swiftly to get him through the door before the season starts.

There is no denying that Diaz is a talented player, but he can be rather frustrating to watch at points due to his lack of end product.

Granted, it has improved a lot over the last year or so, but the 28-year-old could, and definitely should, have more goal involvements than he has.

There are also plenty of wingers on the market and Liverpool can find a replacement quite comfortably, and they could even use existing players at the club to fill the void he might leave.

Federico Chiesa, Rio Ngumoha or even Florian Wirtz can play out wide and replace Cody Gakpo when he needs a rest, suggesting that his departure will be his loss and not the Reds’.
