A number of managers have been linked with the Reds job but Arne Slot is now in pole position to take over.

Talks remain ongoing between Liverpool and Feyenoord but Slot has made no secret of his desire to replace Klopp.

The Liverpool boss also endorsed Slot as a potential successor when he spoke to the media on Friday afternoon.

According to the Daily Mail, an agreement could be in place as early as this weekend, with Slot seeing out the final matches of the season with Feyenoord before making the move to Merseyside.

During his time as Liverpool boss, Klopp has been influenced and supported by his wife Ulla.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, she performed a remarkable act of kindness by handing out $1300 (£1000) worth of food vouchers as a "thank you" to supermarket staff, for their frontline work.

His potential successor Slot is set to be joined by his wife Mirjam, should he take over this summer.

He opted to remain with Feyenoord and FR12.NL claimed his children played a big part in that decision, as he didn't want to take them out of school at that time.

Mirjam did join Slot on the pitch after he guided Feyenoord to the final of the Europa Conference League final back in 2022.

His side was beaten 1-0 by Roma in the final but responded by winning the Eredivisie title last term.

Feyenoord is reluctant to lose its entire backroom staff to Liverpool as talks continue over a compensation package for Slot.

Dutch outlet 1908 suggested he wanted to bring in at least three staff members - assistant Sipke Hulshoff, head of performance Ruben Peeters and analyst Etiënne Reijnen.

Liverpool.com says: Slot appears to have his heart set on moving to Anfield and he will be given all the support he needs to make a success of things.
