Divine Mukasa is one of the latest additions to Pep Guardiola’s squad as Man City prepare for the 2025/26 campaign.
The Citizens have jetted out to Italy to face Palermo on Saturday, 9 August, with just one friendly scheduled before the new season begins after a tough Club World Cup campaign.
Rodri is set to be sidelined until the first international break in September, with the likes of Kalvin Phillips, James McAtee, and Tottenham-linked star winger Jack Grealish searching for new clubs.
This has allowed the manager to experiment and hand out opportunities to the next generation of players at the Etihad Stadium, with Mukasa being the latest academy star to be given that chance.

Mukasa, 17, joined West Ham‘s academy at the age of five, plying and developing his trade in East London before the Citizens sealed a move for his talents on a long-term contract in September 2023.
As a technical, creative and physically imposing player, he was an instant hit within the academy teams, notching two goals and five assists in 15 Under-18 Premier League matches as a 15-year-old.
The attacking midfielder followed that up with an incredible 2024/25 campaign, recording 16 goals and 15 assists in the same division, as well as 10 goal contributions across other competitions.

Man City’s academy continues to pump out exciting talents, such as McAtee, Nico O’Reilly, Phil Foden, and Rico Lewis, and appears to be the next best thing at Guardiola’s proposal.
Having been born in London to Ugandan and Lithuanian parents, the youngster has represented England at various age levels, even featuring in all games at the UEFA U17 Championship.
There could be several reasons behind the decision, not least because his performances deserve a chance in the first-team set-up, but also because he could be attracting interest from elsewhere already.
Man City already gave up Cole Palmer to Chelsea, who now boasts 43 goals and 28 assists in 97 appearances since 2023, helping the Blues to the Europa Conference League and Club World Cup titles.
Mukasa likely announced himself to the supporters when he scored an incredible hat-trick against Newcastle United U18s last December, even hitting the back of the net from the halfway line.
With the Citizens playing in several competitions last season, there should be chances for the youth to stamp their mark next season, and one of those deserves to be Mukasa.
Guardiola is never one to hand out debuts for absolutely no reason, so the Catalan must be seriously impressed by the 17-year-old’s development over the last couple of seasons.
