Federico Chiesa latest news

Federico Chiesa could now be a part of the Liverpool squad for the UCL, as per reports.

Liverpool’s game against Southampton on Wednesday had plenty of ups and downs.

Arne Slot started a surprising frontline with Alexander Isak, Federico Chiesa, and Rio Ngumoha.

In the backline, Giovanni Leoni also started against Southampton.

The Anfield crowd witnessed Alexander Isak’s first Liverpool goal as the Swedish striker scored in the 43rd minute to give the Reds the lead.

However, Southampton equalised in the 76th minute, and the game was looking tough.

The French forward was overwhelmed after scoring the winner and took off his shirt to celebrate, which earned him a second yellow and a red card.

Meanwhile, both goals were assisted by Federico Chiesa.

Liverpool’s boss praised the Italian forward, saying: “He was the one that was most involved in the game, tried the most, and worked the hardest.”

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chiesa is now set to be included in Liverpool’s Champions League squad following Giovanni Leoni’s injury.

The young defender started the match on Wednesday but suffered an injury during the game.

Multiple reports suggest he has torn his ACL and could be out for several months.

Previously, Arne Slot didn’t include Chiesa in the UCL squad as the Dutch manager preferred Rio Ngumoha.
