Winning trophies and celebrating those triumphs with fans is something all football players and managers dream of.
Liverpool were famously robbed of this experience after winning the Premier League in the 2019/20 season as the Coronavirus epidemic led to government rules that restricted large gatherings.
Jurgen Klopp planned to have an open top bus parade at some point following that season but it never quite materialised.
In the summer of 2020, he said: “If we will be champions, then, whichever celebration is possible, we will do as a team, internally, and with all our supporters in the moment when it is allowed to do so again.
We only need one day when everybody is able to come and then we will do that.”
The manager and his team did get to experience an open bus top parade two seasons later, as they celebrated a domestic double of the FA Cup and Carabao Cup following the 2021/22 season.
Jurgen Klopp left Liverpool last season after nine historic years on Merseyside.
The German was originally set to leave upon the expiry of his contract in 2026, but noted that he was “running out of energy” and that led to an earlier departure than many expected.
Despite winning the Carabao Cup in his final season in charge, it has now been revealed that Jurgen Klopp cancelled plans for a bus parade in his final season in charge.
Following the triumph at Wembley, internal discussions were held to make the parade happen, something that would also act as a farewell to Klopp, a way for the city to show their appreciation to him one more time.
However, the Express report that Jurgen Klopp shut down the idea of a parade, saying he did not want any potential event to be about him.
He was adamant that he was not willing to be the main focus of such a parade.
When questioned on the possibility of the parade, he said: “That’s the one part that is not so cool, that it could be seen as [a farewell].
I don’t think that makes sense.”
There is zero chance that Slot will be scrapping such an idea, with an open top bus parade planned for the end of this month to celebrate Liverpool’s Premier League title success.
Thousands of fans are expected to turn up, with the event expected to last between three and five hours.
The parade will commence at Allerton Maze in the south of the city, before heading north on Queens Drive.
