Liverpool fans have been having themselves a glorious bank holiday weekend after watching their team lift the Premier League trophy.

Having waited 35 years to see a Reds team become champions of England with their own eyes, Sunday was a very special occasion.

And the excitement is set to continue in Liverpool on Monday, as the Premier League winners parade around the city in an open-top bus.

This will not be a new feeling for many in the Liverpool squad.

A large number of players are left over from the 2022 parade, while many of the fans lining the streets will have seen it all before, too.

One thing that is often spotted on such occasions is that the players don the team’s new kit as they toast the season that has passed.

That usually follows on from a first outing of the updated strip on the final home game of the season.

However, as Liverpool lifted the trophy on Sunday, they were still adorned in their 2024/25 offering from Nike.

As it turns out, there was a very good reason for that.

It has become a bit of a tradition that fans will get a glimpse of their team’s new kit on the final home game of the campaign.

Liverpool did it in 2023/24, for example, when sporting Nike’s latest effort for the first time during Jurgen Klopp’s farewell.

The Reds also followed the same pattern in 2022/23 and 2020/21, though with the team going for the Premier League title in 2021/22 they did break with tradition on that occasion.

This time, with the title wrapped up, that was not the reason Liverpool did not sport their new design on Sunday.

Instead, as The Athletic revealed back in March, Liverpool are set to change kit suppliers from Nike to Adidas for the 2025/26 campaign.

Unfortunately, though, the German brand will have to wait until August to officially begin their contract with the Reds.

As Nike’s own deal was delayed from starting in 2020, beginning only in August, it runs for five years until the same month in 2025.

As a result, Liverpool will be kitted out by the American sportswear giant through the early days of pre-season.

Although this will not matter much to most supporters, the return of Adidas to Liverpool has caused a stir amongst the fanbase.

With the brand offering some iconic Liverpool kits of the past, there is excitement to see what they serve up this time.

As always, different leaks and mock-ups have been doing the rounds online over the past few months.

And as football kit purveyors Footy Headlines revealed last week, a new, seemingly final design has made its way onto the internet.

With the home, away and third kits featuring three different crests, we will have to wait and see whether these are the kits the Liverpool players will be stepping out in next season.
