And, as the summer transfer window is now open, the rumour mill has started to turn with Liverpool now having even more of an incentive to try and relieve themselves of the attacker before the start of the 2025-26 season.

As per a report from Portuguese newspaper A Bola, it seems like Liverpool could be in the money if they sell Nunez this summer as the striker is ‘one game away’ from earning Benfica another €5million (£4.2milliion).

A Bola add that Nunez has already earned Benfica €85million (£71.7million), but as he is ‘expected’ to exit Anfield this summer, the fee will likely stay at that price.

Nunez’s time at Liverpool has been a bit like Marmite; fans have either loved him or loathed him.

This inconsistency, coupled with the form that players such as Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo found themselves in at Anfield this season, have meant that he’s not played as much as he’d have likely wanted to.
